Cage Warriors World Welterweight Champion Karl Amoussou returns to defend his belt at CW89 against ex-UFC fighter Dominique Steele on the biggest night in Belgian MMA history.
Two huge heavyweights at the top of their game meet when Dutchman Nills van Noord faces the Italian Mauro Cerilli in the second World Title fight of the night.
Frenchman Karl Amoussou (24-7) is, without a doubt, one of the best Welterweights outside of the UFC. 20 of his 24 wins have come via devastating finishes within the distance and he has a proven track record of rising to whatever challenge he’s faced with. He’ll return to action on November 25 at the Lotto Arena in Antwerp, Belgium as the latest big-name addition to the Cage Warriors 89 fight card. Amoussou’s dominant TKO victory over veteran Matt Inman won him the vacant title, and he’s now looking to continue his dominance on a monumental event for Belgian sports fans.
Amoussou’s opponent, Dominique Steele, comes to Cage Warriors after a run of five fights in the UFC which saw him compete on some of the biggest cards of the last 2 years. His experience will be tested against a stronger, faster and hungrier Karl Amoussou than we’ve ever seen before, resulting in what looks to be the fight of the night.
This a huge matchup between one of the most dynamic, dangerous fighters in Europe and an opponent who’s fought and beaten some of the toughest opposition on the world stage.
Our second announcement comes as dangerous Dutch Heavyweight Nills van Noord steps in to face the Italian Mauro Cerilli, after Karl Moore was forced off the card due to injury. Van Noord, a veteran of 25 professional fights, has proved in his last two outings that he belongs at the top of the roster after finishing both Jan Lysak and Adnan Alic in the very first round this year. With his hometown of Amsterdam just hours away from the Lotto Arena in Antwerp, he’s sure to bring an army of support to this European clash of titans.
Cerilli comes into the fight with a record of 10 wins, 2 losses and is currently riding a three-fight win streak, making this an exciting fight between two huge Heavyweights at the top of their game. Someone’s streak is getting broken!
These two title fights top a massive card for the biggest night of MMA in Belgian history, including a stacked list of professional and amateur fights. Hometown favourite, Cindy Dandois, a former UFC and Invitca bantamweight, has her chance to shine against the dangerous striker Kerry Hughes from England. Belgium’s Donovan Desmae clashes with submission specialist Aiden Lee, and more local interest can be found with Ayton de Paepe fighting Welsh super-prospect Jack Shore. Both fighters are undefeated, meaning someones unbeaten record has to come to an end.
