Rules and Regulations


 

All CWFC Mixed Martial Arts contests are conducted under the supervision and authority of the Cage Warriors Fighting Championships management team


MMA Rules and Guidelines


Contestants


CWFC MMA Weight Classes:


Men

Super-Heavyweight - Over 265 lbs/120.20kg

Heavyweight - Under 265 lbs/120.20kg

Light-Heavyweight - Under 205/93.00kg

Middleweight - Under 185lbs/ 83.91kg

Welterweight - Under 170lbs/ 77.11kg

Lightweight - Under 155 lbs/ 70.31kg

Featherweight - Under 145lbs/65.80kg

Bantamweight - Under 135lbs/61.23kg


Women

Under 60kg/133lbs


Bout duration:

  1. All standard CWFC MMA bouts shall be contested over three rounds.

  2. All CWFC Title bouts shall be contested over five rounds.

  3. Rounds will be five minutes in duration

  4. A one-minute rest period will occur between each round.

  5. In the event of a bout going the distance, three Judges will decide the winner on a 10 point must system. If no winner can be reached the bout will be declared a draw.


The fighting area

  1. All CWFC bouts will take place inside an octagonal cage.


Allowed Moves For Full Professional MMA Bouts

All submissions and takedowns allowed under the “Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts (which include neck cranks and heel hooks)


Moves allowed when fighters are standing


Moves allowed when once fighter is grounded


Fouls:

The following acts constitute fouls in CWFC MMA bouts.

1. Butting with the head.

2. Eye gouging of any kind.

3. Biting.

4. Hair pulling.

5. Fishhooking.

6. Groin attacks of any kind.

7. Putting a finger into any orifice or into any cut or laceration on an opponent.

8. Small joint manipulation.

9. Striking to the spine or the back of the head.

10. Striking downward using the point of the elbow.

11. Throat strikes of any kind, including, without limitation, grabbing the trachea.

12. Clawing, pinching or twisting the flesh.

13. Grabbing the clavicle.

14. Kicking the head of a grounded opponent.

15. Kneeing the head of a grounded opponent.

16. Stomping a grounded opponent.

17. Kicking to the kidney with the heel.

18. Spiking an opponent to the canvas on his head or neck.

19. Throwing an opponent out of the ring or fenced area.

20. Holding the shorts or gloves of an opponent.

21. Spitting at an opponent.

22. Engaging in any unsportsmanlike conduct that causes an injury to an opponent.

23. Holding the fence.

24. Using abusive language inside the CWFC octagon.

25. Attacking an opponent on or during the break.

26. Attacking an opponent who is under the care of the referee.

27. Attacking an opponent after the bell has sounded the end of the period of unarmed combat.

28. Flagrantly disregarding the instructions of the referee.

29. Timidity, including, without limitation, avoiding contact with an opponent, intentionally or consistently dropping the mouthpiece or faking an injury.

30. Interference by the corner.

31. Throwing in the towel during competition.




'B Class Pro Rules


The Cage Warriors team introduced 'B Class pro' rules in 2006 to help introduce fighters to the professional circuit. These bouts count towards a fighter's professional record but have slightly different rules and bouts feature fights between new professional fighter in order to promote fairness.


'B Class Pro' bouts rules are as follows


  1. Fights are held over 2x5 minute rounds

  2. These bouts use the same rules as the CWFC with the following exceptions
