2018 is a monumental year for MMA in Liverpool, with the UFC hitting the Echo Arena this weekend and Cage Warriors returning to the same venue for CW96 on September 1st. 7 ex-Cage Warriors fighters will compete under UFC lights on Sunday, including ex- Cage flyweight champion and Liverpool native Molly McCann.
After submitting Thibaud Larchet at Cage Warriors 74, Breese was picked up by the UFC and thundered through the Welterweight division on a 3-fight win streak. His run was cut short by Sean Strickland at UFC 199, a card which also saw ex-Cage Warriors light heavyweight champion Michael Bisping defeat Luke Rockhold to win the middleweight belt. Breese is now back with a vengeance and looks to establish himself as contender once again, starting on May 27th.
Textbook technique here from Tom Breese to get the submission at CW74! 👏
6-fight Cage Warriors veteran Arnold Allen has been one to watch in the UFC’s featherweight division since his debut in 2015. Still unbeaten with the UFC, Allen has fought on some of the promotion’s biggest cards in recent years alongside huge names such as Anderson Silva, Michael Bisping and Joanna Jedrzejczyk. It all started with Cage Warriors, when Allen picked up a 5-1 record with some seriously exciting wins including the one below from CW Fight Night 11 back in 2014.

Darren Stewart’s pro debut saw him finish Michael Ravenscroft with a devastating flurry of elbows at CW69: Super Saturday, beginning a 7-fight undefeated streak that brought him to UFC 100 in late 2016. Stewart won the coveted ‘fight of the night’ bonus at UFC on Fox 26 for his incredible war with Julian Marquez, and will look to give the fans another performance to remember this weekend.
‘Meatball’ Molly McCann makes her hometown UFC debut after winning the Cage Warriors women’s flyweight title in February this year. Her incredible TKO win over Bryony Tyrell caught the eye of UFC management, who are looking to stack their newly formed 125lbs division with the most exciting female fighters on the planet. They’ll get exactly that with McCann, who’s explosive stand-up fight style has built a serious fan base since her pro debut 3 years ago.

Scott has established himself as a seriously exciting middleweight prospect, with a 90% finish rate and 7 UFC appearances since 2012. After an impressive TKO win at CW Fight Night 4, Scott went on to fight some of the strongest contenders in the UFC’s middleweight division including Robert Whittaker, Scott Askham and ex- Cage Warriors champion Jack Hermansson.

Carlo Pedersoli Jr
Now riding a 7-fight win streak, Carlo Pedersoli turned plenty of heads when he defeated ex-UFC vet Nicolas Dalby at CW93 last month. It was one of the closest, most exciting Cage Warriors main events in recent years, and proved that Pedersoli could compete with the strongest calibre of Welterweights on the planet. Carlo had it all: slick striking, excellent submission skills and a daring fight style that had fans on their feet for the full 3 rounds. It’s another step up for Pedersoli this weekend, but one that he looked more than ready for at CW93.

Craig White, who was originally billed to fight for the Cage Warriors welterweight title this July, was picked up by the UFC as an opponent for top 10 contender Neil Magny. White has become known for his fearless fight style and his willingness to take on any opponent offered to him, and this time it was no different. ‘The Thundercat’ enters UFC Liverpool as an underdog, but his 4-fight finish streak over the last few years has proven he can take the fight anywhere. Check it out below.
