It’s crazy to think that by the time he next straps on the Famous Yellow Gloves, it will have been close to two years since we last saw one of Cage Warriors’ most exciting welterweights doing his thing. That wait comes to a welcome end on Saturday, September 13th, as Mateusz Figlak returns to action at CW 193 at Newcastle’s Vertu Arena!

The former title challenger has been side-lined through no fault of his his own, but fans are salivating at the prospect of his comeback against debuting UK welterweight mainstay Tom Crosby as CW’s summer hiatus comes to an end.
Its not hard to see why; throughout his seven-bout CW career, Figlak established himself as one of the most entertaining athletes on the roster, win or lose.

That’s largely due to his propensity for blistering offence; charging into opponents behind flurries of punches, kicks and knees. His ability to quickly switch up the levels of his attacks often leaves opponents flummoxed, drawing their guard down for devastating combinations up high, or leaving their midsections unguarded to facilitate rib-roasting body shots.
His outing against Josh Plant at CW 120 was a perfect demonstration of Gloucester-based welterweight’s destructive credentials. Not just the ability to pick the shots and execute on the connections, but the finishing instincts to know when to hold back, and when to go in for the kill.
It isn’t just rapid-fire demolition jobs where Figlak excels; he’s perfectly adept at picking an opponent apart over the distance, as evidenced in his three-rounder against the super-durable Denilson Neves at CW 163 in late 2023.
Unfortunately for Figlak fans, some unfortunate injury issues have kept him out of action since. In fact, when he returns to action in a few weeks’ time, he’ll have competed just once in almost three years.
He’ll have a perfect opponent on hand for his comeback fight in the form of Tom ‘The Viking’ Crosbie; an all action fighter who’s never shied away from a scrap, and who will also be looking to make a big impression on his CW debut.
Having already come within touching distance of CW gold, Figlak will likely not be more than a handful of wins away from a second opportunity at becoming world champion.
The journey begins again in Newcastle on September 13th at CW 193!
