One of European MMA’s hottest up-and-coming talents – Scotland’s Sean Clancy Jr – is set to compete for his first major MMA title. Cage Warriors – Europe’s Leading MMA Organisation – has today confirmed that the undefeated Paisley man will challenge for the promotion’s interim welterweight championship at CW 199 in Newcastle on Saturday, December 6th.

The decision to have Clancy compete for an interim title comes after Cage Warriors were informed by welterweight champion Justin Burlinson’s team that he would not be availible to fight.
Clancy has been on a tear since signing with Cage Warriors in 2023, steamrolling his first three opponents. 2024 was a banner year for the young upstart, one that saw him notch up an impressive four victories, all by way of a finish, chief amongst them a third-round TKO of durable Brazilian Andrey Augusto.
Clancy returned earlier this year against Italo Gomes in his first CW main event, surviving a competitive first round before latching onto a crushing submission to send his man packing.
Now undefeated at 7-0 and with an impressive amateur background behind him, the new hope of Scottish MMA will headline Cage Warriors’ final event of the year with an opportunity to capture a legitimate world title in his early 20s.
With Burlinson unavailable, Cage Warriors officials are currently in the process of securing an opponent for the December 6th interim title contest, which will be revealed in due course.
