Two world champions were crowned last night at Cage Warriors 77 and both by first round stoppage. In the main event, the man known as The Hammer captured the vacant middleweight belt by first round KO, while Chris Fishgold captured the vacant lightweight title via rear-naked choke.
Jack ‘The Hammer’ Marshman (20-5) snatched victory just before the bell was to sound at the end of the first round (4:58) to extend his unbeaten run to six fights and take the middleweight title.
Revenge was sweet for the Welshman as he showered the Frenchman Christopher Jacquelin (8-3) with punches from the off. Jacquelin remained calm exhibiting some good defence but a lapse in concentration allowed Marshman to fire off an explosive right hook to KO the Frenchman.
An emotional Chris Fishgold (15-1-1) had predicted a second round finish but he made speedier work of his tussle with Adam Boussif (9-4) to submit him at 1:33 in the first round. The Liverpudlian dominated the fight from the start scoring an early takedown and working position until he secured a rear-naked choke to claim the title.
