Welterweight contenders all hit weight as they get set for action at the Newport Centre, Wales at Cage Warriors 87

All 10 competitors scheduled for action at Cage Warriors 87 successfully made weight at the event’s official weigh-ins on Friday afternoon in Newport, Wales.

The event will feature a pair of welterweight contests featuring four potential challengers for the Cage Warriors welterweight title.

Wales’ Lewis Long showed he could make championship weight by coming in under the 170lb weight limit. His opponent Roberto Soldic needed to use the 1lb leeway permitted for non-title fights, tipping the scales at 170.3.

Co-main eventer Craig ‘Thundercat’ White also hit championship weight, coming in bang on the 170lb mark, with his opposite number, former title challenger Matt Inman, weighing in at 170.5lbs.

Much is expected of Welsh featherweight prospect Jack Shore (145.3), who’ll compete on home soil when he takes on Italian Mattia Galbiati (145.2) on the main card.

That featherweight bout will be preceded by another, with Aiden Lee (145.8) taking on Ludovit Klein (145.7).

The main card kicks off with a welterweight clash, as Aaron Khalid (170.4) faces off against Ross Houston (170.4).

Only one fighter on the preliminary card failed to make weight, as Kris Edwards missed the maximum allowable bantamweight limit by 0.9lbs, weighing in at 136.9lbs. His bout with Bryan Creighton (134.4) will go ahead as planned.
