Clancy, touted as one of European MMA’s brightest prospects, has been on a tear since signing with Cage Warriors in late 2023. The Paisley man has since rattled off five victories, all of which have been finished within the distance.

The Scottish prodigy, who trains under highly respected coach James Doolan at Higher Level, most recently found victory in his first ever Cage Warriors main event, coming back from a testing first round to submit Italo Gomes less than a minute into the second.

With welterweight champion Justin Burlinson unavailable to compete, the 22 year old, 7-0 Clancy will now face former Dutch champion van Suijdam for interim gold.

Melvin ‘MVS’ van Suijdam is a long time veteran of the European circuit, with an impressive 15 year tenure in the sport. The Almere, Holland native has held multiple Dutch titles and competed in numerous notable European organisations. With six (T)KOs and seven submissions to his name, he represents another step up in class for Scotland’s Clancy.

The Dutchman most recently saw action in June, knocking out Ammari Diedrick in the first round.

“Sean Clancy Jr’s fans have been calling for a title fight, now they get their wish!” said CW President Graham Boylan.

“We’ve seen him develop at an incredible at an incredible pace; now he gets to test himself at the highest level and prove to the world that the hype is real.”

“Melvin will be the toughest test of his career so far. With a wealth of experience and a reputation for finishing even the most durable opponents, he has every intention of taking the title back to Holland.”

“With two title fights and a stacked undercard, we’re ending the year with a bang on December 6th!”
