With just over 24 hours to go until bell time, the Cage Warriors 197 athletes hit the scales at Manchester’s Holiday Inn hotel. American import Anthony Orozco and Brazilian debutant Evaldo Santos are set to square off in the evening’s main event, as both men comfortably made the welterweight limit.
The co-main event, a highly anticipated featherweight clash pitting Damon Wilson (145.5lbs) against Aiden Lee (145.8lbs) is also good to go, with both men hitting their marks effortlessly.
Manuel Del Valle needed additional time to make the welterweight limit. After originally missing the welterweight limit by 0.7lbs he returned to the scales to make 170.8lbs within the two hour limit.
Newcomer Katharina Rychkova was unable to make weight for her bout with Ireland’s Eimear Darcy (125.3lbs). Rychkova initially tipped the scales at 128.3lbs, before returning two hours later to his 126.4lbs. She will be fined a percentage of her purse, and the bout will go ahead as planned.
The scheduled featherweight bout between Hossein Mousavi and Jake McHugh has been cancelled after Mousavi missed weight. The GB Top Team man tipped the scales at 154.4lbs, resulting in McHugh’s team withdrawing their fighter. McHugh made weight and will receive his full purse.
