Cage Warriors End of Year Awards 2024 – Vote Now!
Mariusz Mikolajewski over Josh Onwardi – CW 169 (Flying knee)
Debuts don’t come much better than this. Anyone who followed Mariusz Mikolajewski’s career as an amateur would be aware of his ability to finish fights at a moments notice.
Still, nobody – not least our commentators – could have predicted that he’d pull off a one-hitter-quitter practically on demand to ensure his nomination for KO of the Year!
James Power over Dumitru Girlean CW 181 (Elbow)
There was a lot of hype behind the lightweight clash between Dumitru Girlean and James Power, and with good cause. The pair have both garnered reputations as two of the most violent, all-action athletes in the CW lightweight division.
With reputations such as the pair have, surely their inevitable showdown could only end in some manner of spectacular carnage? Thankfully, fans were not left wanting…
Stefano Paterno over Olli Santahlati CW 175 (Punch)
Former welterweight champion Stefano Paterno has been on fire since his return to Cage Warriors in early 2024, and given his propensity for finishing fights, that should come as no surprise.
While his first round D’Arce Choke against Scottie Stockman was smooth, and his clattering of Jorge Bueno was impressive, this third round rocket to put Olli Santalahti down was the pick of the bunch by far.
Luke Riley over Alexandre Junior CW 178 (Punch)
If we had to pick a single word to encapsulate Luke Riley’s show-closing KO of Alexandre Junior at CW 178, it would be ’emphatic’.
Catching his man cold with a picture-perfect counter right hand, Riley once again proved that he’s one of the sport’s most reliable hands when it comes to generating highlight-reel worthy content.
Konstantinos Ntelis over Simone Patrizi CW 179 (Punch)
Just 23 years of age, Greece’s Konstantinos Ntelis has his entire career ahead of him, but he’s already making serious waves in the MMA world.
And while his debut against former title challenger Jan Quaeyhaegens may not have gone to plan, ‘The Greek Machine’ more than made up for it with his show-stealing KO of hometown favourite Simone Patrizi in Italy.
