Cage Warriors 155lb champion George Hardwick has sustained a significant injury ahead of his scheduled return to competition at CW 169 on March 30th.

The champ revealed via his social media accounts this afternoon a broken jaw suffered in training for his upcoming title defence against American contender Lucas Clay.

The injury and subsequent recovery time will keep Hardwick out of action for the immediate future, with the Middlesborough man hoping to make a return to the cage later in the year.

Hardwick posted an image of the injury on social media.

The Cage Warriors team would like to wish George a speedy recovery and return to full health.

With the bout set to serve as the main event of a stacked CW 169 card in London, a new headliner will be confirmed by CW officials in due course.

The card, which will air live on UFC Fight Pass and international broadcast partners, is set to take place at London’s indigo at the O2, and will feature a stellar line-up of domestic and international talent including Jordan Vucenic vs Simone D’Anna, Lone’er Kavanagh vs Shawn Da Silva, Will Currie vs Leon Aliu, Matt Figlak vs Kamil Dolgowski and more.
