Cage Warriors – Europe’s Leading MMA Organisation – is proud to announce the acquisition of one of European MMA fastest rising prospects, ‘Saint’ George Staines. The 24 year old Englishman joins the promotion on an exclusive, long-term, multi-fight contract.
Staines, originally from Hull, England, first cut his teeth on the UK amateur circuit, where he captured and defended a number of well respected titles. Next he set his sights on international competition, clinching gold at the 2020 European Championships and bronze at the 2022 Worlds.
Since turning pro in 2023, ‘Saint George’ has amassed an unblemished record of six victories, with notable names such as Matty Elliott, Denis Frimpong, Jakub Tichota and Hafeni Nafuka gracing his ledger.
Staines became a free agent earlier this year, and committed his immediate future to Cage Warriors soon after.
“I’m so happy to be signing to Cage Warriors…” said Staines. “It’s a great promotion to show my skill set on and get my name out there. Signing will also give me the opportunity to be more active, like I’ve been asking for a while. I feel like I’ll really come into my own with Cage Warriors.”
In addition to the opportunity to compete regularly for the organisation, Staines is also relishing a return to competition on UK soil.
“There’s a lot of things that I’m looking forward to, the first one being fighting back in the UK! It feels like such a long time since I have. It’ll be great to have everyone coming to watching me live in the arena again. Also fighting on UFC Fight Pass is something I’m really looking forward to. It’s another great opportunity for me to really showcase to the world how good I am.”
For anyone yet to see the 24 year old technician in action, the Englishman – who trains out of Liverpool’s Next Generation – has a simple prediction as to what they can expect.
“The Cage Warriors fans can expect a high level, high paced fight from me, where I’ll technically breakdown my opponent and smash them. Cool, calm and collected is what I am. I can beat anyone, anywhere, where ever the fight may go I’m always ready!”
News on Staines’ first outing in the Famous Yellow Gloves is expected in the coming weeks.
