Following his sensational North East homecoming at in September, former lightweight world champion George Hardwick will return to the same venue for his next outing in the Famous Yellow Gloves. In a move that’s sure to get fans salivating, opposite him in the cage will be Swiss sensation Daniel Konrad. Cage Warriors officials have today confirmed that the bout – a three-round, 155lb affair, will feature on the main card of CW 199 on Saturday, December 6th at Newcastle’s Vertu Arena.

Hardwick (14-3) ended a long drought of competing close to home at CW 193, stopping Brazilian submission specialist Nonato Junior in the very first round. The 28 year old – who will face Konrad on his 29th birthday – rose to fame in Cage Warriors with a sensational run through the lightweight division, defeating the likes of Dean Trueman, Lukasz Kopera, Kyle Driscoll, Chris Bungard and Yann Liasse while capturing and defending the 155lb title.
After dropping the strap to Samuel Silva in a five-round war earlier this year, Hardwick now finds himself back in the win column and ready to take a huge step back into contention against former welterweight title challenger Konrad.
‘The Swiss Army Knife’ Daniel Konrad (7-2) made a stunning Cage Warriors debut in April 2024, going to war with Dublin’s James Sheehan in a brutal and bloody affair in the latter’s home town. Despite competing out of his weight class, Konrad gave Sheehan all he could handle before succumbing to a fourth round submission.
The Swiss fighter returned at his more natural home of 155lbs in November of that year, steamrolling Bellator veteran Aiden Lee in less than three minutes.
Having spent some time on the side-lines due to injury, Konrad is set for a blockbuster return against a former divisional champion, with a win setting him up for a massive 2026 in the Famous Yellow Gloves.
Also announced for CW 199 this week, Scottish superstar Sean Clancy Jr will compete for his first world title, against an opponent to be confirmed. Further bouts for the event will be revealed in due course.
Cage Warriors 199 will air live on UFC Fight Pass and international broadcast partners.
