San Diego native and one half of “The Twin Dragons”, Josh Wang-Kim, will make his Cage Warriors debut next week at CW 130 in his hometown as he takes on Jose Hernandez (4-3).
Wang-Kim enters Cage Warriors with a perfect 3-0 record and holds an extensive amateur record, with 15 wins and a single loss before graduating to the pro ranks.
Talking to Cage Warriors, Wang-Kim revealed that he and his twin brother, John, are going to be the next big stars in MMA: “My brother and I are ready to make a big splash in this community.
“It’s been a long time coming and we are really excited to take this sport to new heights.
“We will be the new cash cows in the business!”
First entering a martial arts dojo at 16, Wang-Kim has now been involved in martial arts for 12 years, and he puts the structure and discipline received in his and his brother’s training down to his current success, which has seen him win 11 straight fights across both the pro and amateur ranks, whilst revealing the importance of training with his twin brother: “We are lucky to have each other to train with.
“We are able to drill together and bounce ideas back and forth between each other.”
The Wang-Kim’s are well travelled too and in 2019, had the opportunity to train alongside current UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski, in Australia.
“Training with Alexander Volkanovski before he became the UFC champion was a huge blessing,” says the 28 year old; “His coach, Joe Lopez, and the team are the most amazing and generous people we have ever met!”
With Cage Warriors providing a proven path to the UFC for 106 fighters and committing to several shows in the state of California next year, Wang-Kim revealed just how easy a decision it was to accept the fight on CW 130: “I turned down other fights to compete in San Diego.
“It’s my home town and I’m competing at this show for my fans.
“Tune in on October 17th, you won’t want to miss it!”
CW 130 will be broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass and tickets are still available here.
