Arguably the tournament’s dark horse, French striker Bourama Camara will be looking to send shockwaves through the Cage Warriors welterweight division with a PrizeFighter victory.

Still, the 26 year old Parisian – perhaps in a degree of gamesmanship – is understated about his ability heading into the September 7th event.

“(I have) no real talent, just hard work every day. With a goal and discipline, we move forward with confidence!”

“(I want) to show what I’m capable of, show that I have a high level and can beat the best chosen for this tournament!”

Much like his fellow competitors, Camara is cognizant of the opportunity ahead of him.

“PrizeFighter could provide me with some financial stability and allow me to surround myself with the best coaches to raise me to the highest level.”

“It’s a very good prize that brings a certain satisfaction, I think, once won. (It will allow me to make) an investment in myself, both athletically and financially, as I’ve always done.”

It’s a fortuitous situation that the young Frenchman finds himself in, fighting not only for $50,000, but a shot at the Cage Warriors title.

He’s also keen to represent France’s fast-rising interests on the world stage.

“(I want to) show that his country has something to show the world in MMA…I stopped working in industry to devote myself to this.”

“Training every day, spending a lot of money to learn, to prove to myself that I can do it, that my opponents will all have the same disadvantage as me, so I can do it!”

Training under CW fan favourite Jean N’Doye, it should come as no surprise that striking is a key part of Camara’s game.

At 6’4, he’s naturally long and rangy but more importantly he’s developed a style that perfectly compliments his physical attributes.

Able to snap off lightening-fast straight punches from range, but equally happy to mix it up with his grappling in close quarters, Camara believes he has all the tools to take home the prize, and has a warning for any potential opponents who may think otherwise.

“My size, my versatility…I’m good in all areas of MMA but my striking will make the difference.”

“I hope you’re ready, because it’s a matter of life and death, and I’m not here for a laugh!”

The welterweight #PrizeFighter Tournament goes down as part of CW 176 from Glasgow’s Braehead Arena on Saturday, September 7th.
