Cage Warriors – Europe’s Leading MMA Organisation – has today added a second world title bout to its upcoming return to Manchester. Following the previous confirmation that Liam Gittins would run back his bantamweight title defence against Alessandro Giordano, an interim lightweight title fight between challengers Ieuan Davies and James Power has also been added to the CW 191 bill.
The pair will clash over five, five minute rounds on Saturday, June 28th at the city’s BEC Arena.
Officials made the decision to put an interim title on the line due to current champion Samuel Silva being unable to compete over the summer series.
Former amateur standout Davies (6-0) has remained undefeated for the entirety of his six-fight pro run, the most recent four bouts of which have taken place under the CW banner.
With submission victories over the likes of Leon Hill, Ryan Shelley and Amaury Junior under his belt, the Wrexham man has yet to see the third round of a professional contest.
The 29-year-old, a former serving member of the Parachute Regiment, currently trains under UKMMA mainstay Tom Blackledge at the Fighter Blueprint Academy.
Wakefield, England’s Power (8-1) also enters the bout riding a wave of momentum. The fan-favourite scrapper has won his last three on the bounce, including a 2024 Fight of the Year nominee against Daniel Kolasiński and a KO of the Year nominee against Dumitru Girlean.
The 33-year-old, who has long claimed to be the division’s top contender, will also have a UKMMA institution in his corner in the form of ASW’s Kam Atakuru.
“The BEC Arena has played host to some of Cage Warriors’ most memorable nights over the years…” said CW President Graham Boylan, “…so we’re stacking the deck once again in Manchester!”
“James Power and Ieuan Davies are two of the most dynamic, dangerous finishers in the division. So whether it’s Ieuan by submission, James by knock out or an all-out war that goes the distance, fans are guaranteed a ‘Fight of the Year’ contender!”
“With Gittins vs Giordano and a host most big fights in the pipeline, CW 191 is shaping up to be the highlight of the combat sports calendar!”
Additional bouts for CW 191: Manchester are set to be announced in the coming weeks.
