As Paisley’s favourite fighting son prepares for his first ever main event in the Famous Yellow Gloves, what better time to take a look back at the Higher Level man’s handywork?
Vs Milton Alfonso Cabral at CW 161
They don’t come much tougher as a welcoming committee than Milton Cabral. ‘King B’ may not be the most consistent in the grand scheme of things, but you can take one thing to the bank; when he wins, he finishes.
Coming off a head kick KO of Paddy Wilkinson and a gruelling three-rounder with Khadim Dia, they weren’t exactly queuing up to face Cabral…Enter Sean Clancy Jr.
Vs Lucas Rodrigues at CW 171
Clancy’s CW debut could have gone any better if he’d scripted it, but now it was time for the Higher Level man to show that lightening could indeed strike twice.
It was time to make a statement, and that’s precisely what happened. The Scotsman’s superior ground game once again shone through against a much more experienced foe; closing the gap between the up-and-comer and the well-travelled veteran in the most clinical of ways.
Vs Rafael Aronov at CW 176
Clancy – and his legion of supporters – made no bones about the fact that they’d wanted to see their man in the $50,000 PrizeFighter Tournament proper, rather than the reserve bout. Such is the case of random draws though; all the Paisley man could do on the night was his best.
That’s exactly what we saw against the rugged and durable Rafael Aronov – The Israeli came out swinging but the second the bout hit the mat it was clear that Clancy wasn’t to be denied. It was the performance of his career so far, and one that warranted a serious step up in competition…a step up that just so happened to be right around the corner.
Vs Andrey Augusto at CW 181
With a pair of impressive wins already under his belt, Clancy could have quite easily taken the back end of 2024 off from competition. But as a great man once said, that’s not the cloth from which he is cut.
And so the young prodigy hopped back into action barely two months removed from his clash with Aronov, making the short hop down to Newcastle to face his toughest test to date.
That test came in the form of stout Brazilian Andrey Augusto, a man who to that point had been finished just once in 24 professional bouts. Clancy had one mission in mind: Double that number.
Don’t miss Sean Clancy Jr as he attempts to make it 5-0 in the Famous Yellow Gloves on Saturday, April 19th at CW 187. Tickets are availible here.
