South East UK is becoming a hotbed for MMA

Cage Warriors return to Colchester’s Charter Hall on May 31st to showcase top rising names from the South East and across the UK and Europe. Here, we take a look at why the South East is becoming a hotbed for MMA.

Undefeated since 2014, former Cage Warriors featherweight and now UFC star Arnold Allen is one of the most notable names to fight out of the South East of England, having won all 5 of his UFC bouts so far.

Since Allen departed Cage Warriors almost 5 years ago, a stream of prospective talent from the area has flooded into the Cage Warriors roster, with a number of notable names fighting next at CW105.

One such name is Cory McKenna, who returns to the cage just weeks after her last win at CW104 to take on Italy’s Giulia Chinello. McKenna’s last victory saw her defeat dangerous grappler Fannie Redman in impressive fashion – beating the Swede at her own game via second round submission.

Also competing at CW1o5 is Essex fighter Steve Aimable, who boasts one of the fastest knockouts in Cage Warriors history at just 15 seconds.

‘Diddy Kong’ believes that another strong showing in Colchester could put him in line for a shot at the featherweight title currently held by Dean Trueman.

In the CW105 Main Event, Colchester’s own Sean Carter makes his long-awaited return to take on Tim Barnett in the lightweight division. Carter is one of the most experienced fighters on the South East scene, training regularly with Jack Mason, Cage Warriors veteran and head of the CWA Academy South East.

The CW105 undercard features a number of other South East names looking to rise into the spotlight on May 31st, including Craig Edwards who impressed with a dominant win at the Cage Warriors Academy South East 23 last month.
